I am one of the people having outgoing call quality problems on my Verizon 8830 and I was hoping to try the Sprint and Bell versions of the operating systems to see if there was any difference.

I have already updated to the latest Verizon software and when I install the Bell software on my PC and delete the vendor.xml file I still can't get it to install on the 8830. I'm wondering if because the Verizon software is newer, the desktop manageer does not try to update the phone?

If anyone has any advice for installing the other carrier's software it would be appreciated.

You have to delete the vendor file on the new software, what kind of problems are you having after I put the newest VZW software on I have not had any problems. Latest Operating System Available For Each Blackberry Device

If you have the latest VZW software that is newer then the others have. Current Sprint and Bell versions are older then the newest VZW version.

If you want to "downgrade" to one of the other versions simply use Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs to uninstall the newer version and then install the older version and delete vendor.xml again. Then the Application Loader will prompt you that a downgrade is available.

Ok, thanks. For those that asked, I know I have the newest version right now. I'm just trying to see if the other vendors software versions (even though they are older) have better call quality.

They don't. Save yourself the hassle, it's been tried.

I downgraded to the last Sprint\Bell version just so I could hear my phone ring again. I used Audacity and distorted my ringtones like there was no tomorrow yet I could still never hear them. Getting it to downgrade was a major pain though. I wiped my device, had to uninstall EVERYTHING from my laptop, reg edits, etc and finally got it to recognize the software. Everything feels the same. I dont use A2DP or anything and the Verizon software was absolutley horrible. I am liking this version better.
