Default Desktop Software

I would like to apologize up front for what I am sure is a duplicate thread. I looked but couldn't find the information I was looking for, so here goes.

I just got a BlackBerry through work, it is already setup to receive emails, it synchronizes with my outlook calender and all that.

Concerning the desktop software; Do I need it? Can I change profile settings with it? Can I make my own themes with personal pictures?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi, definately worth using it even if it's just to back up your BB. If you ever have problems, and you call your service carrier, one of the things they will do is have you go to your computer and use the desktop manager to sort it out. You also need it to load new a new Operating System (if you ever do) as well as some third party applications.
