My company has recently installed software for unified messaging on our phone system. I am on an exchange server (2007 version which is not supported by BIS by the way). My work-around is to forward my mail from exchange to my BB email account (which works fine).

When I receive an email from the VM server I get an attached .wav file which I can play using media player on my computer, however, the same email which is forwarded to my BB account does not work. The email that I receive on my BB is "Unsupported media type in header" . I have tried forwarding the .wav file to a gmail account and I have the same problem.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

I have to admit, I may not know 100% about this, but I think the BES server converts the .wav file to a different .wav format (i.e. there a alot of formats, versions, compressions of .wav).

I know on our networks we use BES on all of them and we can accept .wav files from Mitel voice mail and Cisco Unity.

when I forward it to gmail I can hear it just fine. Not sure why yours wouldn't work the same way???

Yes, Inter-Tel drops the messages into Exchange (UM integration) as .wav's.

Take one of your UM messages (UM = Unified Messages) and store it on your PC. Then click on the properties and look at the specs (properties). I bet there is one thing that the BB doesn't like. Probably the bit rate or something.

Mitel (the people who now own Inter-Tel) will be ensuring all UM offering work with BES and RIM, so if it's a problem today, it won't be for long.

Bit rate is 64kbs and the audio format is CCITT u-law (whatever that means)

I think I will send a support request to Inter-tel to see what there response is.
