Default What would you like to see from the BlackPad?

I would love to see a fast processor, good battery life and a browser that supports flash.

What would you like to see?

Except for very, very good, battery life, I don't really know what I would like to see because I don't know what is reasonable to expect?

I do expect it will be closer to a blackberry in concept than what I think of as a computer in terms of PC hardware running some flavor of windows. But if it is not much more than a big blackberry, I'll pass.

If it is nothing more than an entertainment appliance, an e-reader with more, I'll pass.

Flash support in the browser would be nice, but that's not a big deal for me.

I guess it will have the doc's to go package installed free or available at a very low price.

I hope it has standard hardware interfaces. For example USB. And will it support the USB thumb drives? Will there be drivers for external USB hard drivers and external USB CD/DVD reader/writers and such? . . . Or will I care?

Camera, front or rear, two cameras . . . I don't really care.

I'm expecting it to have, and I want it to have, wifi and bluetooth, and to be able to tether to the mobile network through the blackberry. I don't expect it to have -- and don't want it to have -- a mobile phone.

My main thing is carrying as little and as light when I travel. I quit carrying a laptop a long time ago, and I'd like to go smaller and lighter than a netbook. I want to have something to take notes, carry a library of doc's and pdf's, and be able to take notes, read/write/edit documents, send/receive emails, do a little browsing, and go at least all day on battery.

Probably will be running a totally new OS - probably a precursor to OS7 or OS8 since RIM recently bought a company in that space.

My wife is pushing for an ipad now. I agree I see it more as a toy for now. If anything this may force the netbooks to become more efficient above the general 1GB RAM

I recently bought the Toshiba T135 characterized as a "super netbook" Win 7, 4 GB RAM, fairly fast processor, 5 hours of battery in eco mode. No CD. So far so good.

Wonder if it GSM/CDMA capable and if so wonder which carriers it will be locked to.

Not to mention if it will have email/PIM info and if it will sync with BlackBerries.. Would be annoying to end up with 2 calendar/contacts lists on 2 devices.

Time will tell though. I am happy with my mobile BlackBerry.

It's not supposed to have any wireless carrier capabilities at all.
Just WiFi and Bluetooth.

It's a companion device for your BlackBerry. You'd use the BlackBerry device's 3G connection to provide Internet connectivity to the pad.

Hmmm. That's a bit disappointing. A no go for me.

That would work fine for me, particularly if the Blackberry continues to update and upgrade the OS on the handheld (maybe this QNX stuff?). I do hope its bigger than the pending Samsung tablet and the rumored Dell releases, which seem neither fish or foulish -- too big for a handheld, too small to do hi-def viewing. Lightweight, hi-res, and battery accessible. Also, something that plays nice with other formats, etc., that allows me to use it with my files and programs without a special app or license. I know what I'm doing with my PC, my laptop, my e-reader and my handheld. The tablet has to fit in and not try and sell me on new programs, formats, subscriptions. . .

No CDMA/GSM radio.. I probably won't have too much a problem with that, Since I can't honestly see myself walking around with one in public. I know the iPad is small, but for mobility you really can't beat a phone strapped to your waist.
