Default Softphone

Anyone know of anyone creating a native SIP softphone for the PlayBook?

I'd pay $50 for a good one (or even one that just works). And I'm not talking about a proprietary softphone. Think 'X-Lite' for the PlayBook.

Skype is not likely to happen any time soon. Though it would be cool, the political will just isn't there (why would Microsoft make this happen with Win8 tablets around the corner?).

SIP softphones would be huge though, especially for enterprise. I've got a client who keeps asking me for Skype (and the Flash hacks just don't work), and he's got a $10k IP phone system at his office I can use a softphone with from anywhere in the world. Except there isn't one that works on the PlayBook.

RIM, this kind of thing is just killing me (and you). Ya gotta open things up and stop trying to protect your paid-for enterprise voip system (which I will _never_ recommend - the IP PBX vendors have beat you to it).

This is one of those simple things you can do in the short term to make some people happy. Let people communicate. See what happens.

If your clients IP phone system is Cisco based, maybe something like Cisco Jabber would fit the bill?

If this is a really important feature for you, you may just have to change devices.

Yes. Playbook and it's users need love and attention. RIM shows disinterest.
