Looking for some help here
on my Previous bb I could do a new line when sending an sms but for the life of me I cannot find anyway in which to enter a new line on the z10 Is it possible or is this an omission by the developers?

Yeah, for BBM and SMS, the hard return doesn't seem to work on the Z10 (One of the benefits of having a Q)

There is a work around involving a word substitution thing. I'll see if I can find it.

EDIT:
Settings>Language and Input>Prediction and Correction>Word Substitution: Add Shortcut

In the first line type some type of shortcut (I used nl for New Line)

Second line just hit the Return key and make sure Always use this capitalization is checked.

Thank you, that info would be helpful that is one feature that I miss a lot as I often send instructions via sms
another thing I have come across is I don't seem to be able to get rid of the junk contacts when composing an sms
I have set my contact list to no include facebook users
but when I compose and sms I get 3 or 4 entries of the same contact to choose from and if the list is longer than the screen I cannot scroll through them very easily I inevitably end up selecting one of the incorrect contacts
I have no idea how I can send a sms to face book or to an email address only

previously it was possible to select the contact then select which phone number you wished to send to
now every single possible connection is shown requiring lots of scrolling which usually means having to restart the message several time before I get it right. why are people I have no interest in, appearing in my sms list when I don't even have a phone number for them?

I suspect it has to do with the integration of the various contact sources.

I have many issues with contacts, especially in regards to how BlackBerry 10 handles multiple entries (one name) with fb, linkedin, G+, add numbers and an email address or two and it just turns into a guessing game. You can unlink or delete 'junk' contacts or entries without valid contact information, but the next time you sync any of those services, the contacts return.

Since sms seems to be a big concern, you could add [sms] to the contacts you message the most. It may make it easier when you re faced with a long possible list of people you may be trying to message.

I hope BB can fix some of these issues in the coming updates. While not a deal breaker for me by any means, it does get rather annoying.

same here at the moment I have so far with your help managed to solve some of the deal breakers.
I still get very annoyed when I put my phone on charge, then once fully charged receives a call and I can't answer it because the screen stays blank and I have to remove the batter to bring it back to life. and when I say very annoyed enough to consider throwing it at a wall.

I have never seen that before...sounds like something isn't working correctly on your phone. Mine can be answered at any time - plugged in or not. You need to update your firmware.
