new issue with this latest beta. try using the sound search. it will work fine for the first time, then if you try to use it again, the phone will say "searching for bluetooth" then i will lose sound even when making phone calls. I had to reset the phone to get it to work again.
running 4.5

It's one of my favorite apps on my bb...use it more than Google Maps. The menu-driven interface is very convenient, and it works fast. You don't need to wait, it's an open, wide beta and the program is very solid, never crashes or locks up or causes me any problems.

I just saw the post and gave this a try on my 8310 on AT&T. Great search and I don't live in a major or large city. If you try to download it, scroll past the windows mobile options then you'll see the options for blackberry. The maps aren't as great as google maps for black berry but the search is awesome!!

Is anyone else having problems with this? I've installed it and when I run it it attempts to download application data and gives me the "Sorry we can't download the application data. Please check your network connection". The only thing I can think of was I had installed it before my data plan was activated. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall since then but it still doesn't work. I've tried all the different connection settings too and none seem to work. Is this an issue with the 8330 or CDMA?

Is able to locate my location via GPS inside my house better than Google maps, though google maps probably uses triangulation when the signal strength(or # of sats) is below a certain amount.

Also, there should be a night mode like Microsoft's streets and trips.

I wish it had transit directions like google does. If it did, id delete google maps for sure. After further use, I much prefer lives use of the contact book instead of googles favorite system.

I have a Curve with 4.5 os on AT&T and it seems to work ok - except

1. The Voice Command locked up the device.
2. Getting weather doesn't bring any information back for Hickory, NC - this is a decent sized town and should bring the info back. It just brings back a blank screen and nothing else.
3. The "save to address book" feature is great, but just very very slow - it takes over 25 seconds to save the address. I would use this a lot more if it didn't take so long.

Are there any fixes in the works for these issues??

Wow, after trying this unsuccessfully several times for whatever reason I decided to check the "Use only WiFi interface" checkbox, even though the 8330 doesn't have WiFi, and I was able to get past the error I was getting. So very strange.
I had gotten used to using Poynt as it does a lot of the same stuff and in some cases better. Plus it's a Canadian app so it seems to bring up stuff more relevant to me.

Regardless, just thought I'd share the workaround.

I just installed it and it crashed when I click on "theaters playing"... The hour glass will not stop spinning.... oh wait.. It just finished! wow.... 10 minutes spinning.... umm...

Also noticed a little bug, when I search for movies playing, the app shows my the miles that the theater is away from me and but the miles has a $ in front of the millage... like $30m. Weird stuff..

ok I tried to load Live again and the phone became unresponsive....

Yea.. I am going to uninstall as soon I regain control of my phone..

Thumbs up Live Search - Internal GPS on 8130 (Sprint) - 08-04-2008, 06:34 PM

Everything installed fine, Live search all work great but one thing. When showing my location in this application, it only shows my location by closest cell tower. Is there something I am missing?

All the other mapping software are able to use the internal gps but this one. Google Maps, Nav4All, Telenav...

Other then that, this application was worth waiting for.
I'm having the same probem with Live Search on my Sprint CDMA 8130 Blackberry Pearl. Live Search isn't accessing my internal GPS, but seems to be locating the nearest cell tower. Google maps and the built in maps use the internal GPS perfectly. If Live Search properly utilized the internal GPS, I would delete Google maps and make Live Search my search of choice.

I really like the movie and weather product on Live Search. I'd like to see Microsoft add stocks search and keep improving the product. It's great!

tried the directions feature on this today, with the exception of giving me a few incorrectly named/numbered highway exits it worked great. rerouting when you go off track could be easier though. even with the misnamed exits I was ok cause i knew where i was going (never test a gps when you dont really know the way lol) but that would be bad if i was out of town or something.

It also seemed to give me some odd routes that i wouldnt normally take (its possible to go faster with more highway sometimes etc) but they would certailny all get you there if you didnt know where you were going to begin with.

overall - thumbs up

Ok that was day one.. as time went on I noticed that the maps in Cleveland ares are nowhere near complete. The directions would work but map would never load (in the same places google maps would have them up and running) So i found myself just following a blue line, till it turned. (If it werent for the printed directions, i'd have been guessing at the street)

So back to google maps for me

Live Search for BlackBerry Beta (BlackBerry OS 4.1 or later)

What is Live Search for BlackBerry?
Live Search for BlackBerry is the essential mobile companion – it is an application you can install on your BlackBerry phone that makes it easy to search for business, get driving directions, view maps with up-the-minute traffic information and much more when you’re on the go.

What’s New?
The new version of Live Search for BlackBerry has the following new features:
Contact Integration. Save a search result to your contacts for quick access later.
Mail to a Friend. Send a text message with search result details to a friend.
Speech Recognition (for GSM devices with BlackBerry OS 4.2 and later). No need to type – for yellow page listings, just say what you want to find!
Web Search. Initiate a web search from within the application just by clicking the ‘Web’ icon to get results from various other scopes, e.g. Web, News, Images, and more.
Weather. Get current weather conditions and a 4-day forecast for your current location.
Improved Searching. Speak or type an address into the main search box – try saying “One Microsoft Way Redmond Washington” or your home address.
Increased Traffic Coverage. Up-to-minute traffic info for more cities, e.g. Dallas, Indianapolis, and more.
Same As It Ever Was…
Local Search. Search yellow and white page listings near you.
Driving Directions. After finding a business, get directions to your destination.
Maps. Smooth panning/zooming experience with maps optimized for readability and efficient use of your data connection.
Traffic. View maps with up-to-the minute traffic information.
GPS Integration. Track your progress along a route by clicking Menu > Center On GPS when you’re viewing the route on a map.
Movie Showtimes. Quickly browse movie show times near you organized by movie or by theater.
We want your feedback!
Please send all feedback, suggestions, bugs, and questions to lsmobile@microsoft.com.

Happy Searching!
-- The Live Search for mobile Team
I cannot get your app to work on my BB 8130. It downloads fine but then gives a "Sorry, we can't download the application data. Please check your network connection." error mesaage in the configuration part. My carrier is Bell Mobility. In the Network Connection section I have Direct HTTP. My other BB GPS applications work fine.
