I've been messing around with it a very little bit since the download last night... I'm so used to TeleNav now that everything is a bit off...

One good thing I like is it searches for gas prices you input the type of gas you use in the "Settings" menu and then it searches for gas stations in your immediate location and sorts them in price order...

i downloaded the mapquest navigattor last month when it was free to use. does it mean if i use it now, i would be charged $4.99/month? if yes, i probably use nav4all which is free.

as far as I know, if you have the previous version you should be OK... When I downloaded the new version last night, I had to provide a credit card number which I didn't have to do when I downloaded the older version. The older version did not work for me though with my 8300 and BT GPS Puck.

i will test mine later today with my curve 8310. see if they disable it. if not, i think they would in the future anyway...cuz other ppl would just use the older version which is free.

yup...still working on the old version on my 8310. i heard the new version have live traffic...mabye worth it for u guys, but not me. google maps live traffic is crap in nyc...only show traffic to the entrance/exit of bridges and tunnel, 1 west side high way and gowanus highway. doesn't show the fdr which most ppl use.

Old version works fine for me as well, I've posted links in here as to how to get the 71XX screen size and the 8XXX screen size version.

I'm using the 8703e version on my 8320 with a BT puck (Freedom mini) and it works perfect! I give it to everyone I know that has a BB and GPS.

Just noticed the OTA links for the old version are now dead.

If anyone wants to try out the old free version on their 8320, I extracted it from the device and saved it off, edited the ALX file and here's a link you can use to get the files to load it through the desktop manager. May not be OTA, but at least this version still works and is free!

The only useful traffic info that I've found is a local site that has maps based on data from actual sensors along our highways. I'm not sure where Google gets their data but it's definitely not very useful IMO.

I used the new MQ Navigator to get to Thanksgiving dinner today--about an hour in all. It was spot on with traffic information and I really like the addition of the street name announcements. I'll gladly pay $4.99/month for it!!

I had the free older version, and it worked until Thanksgiving (go figure) when the free trial expired. I called their customer service to see if it was possible for me to subscribe with the older version since the new version doesn't work on the 7100i as of yet, and was told the 0ld version is now completely obsolete and they no longer support it, and would take my information and e-mail me when the new version supports my device.
Now I'm looking into TeleNav. I'm in the delivery business, I can't be without a good GPS program.

hmmm..i was using the free telenav this sunday...still works for me.

if it doesn't work for u guys..i suggest nav4all or amazegps (dunno if i spell it correctly).

Ok, for those of you with ATT (cingular) go to ur Media Net, go to download tools (or software cant remember) and...

MapQuest is available, $3.99 p/mo.1 dollar cheaper, and it goes on ur bill, not ur debit/credit/paypal card.

I downloaded and paid the $4.99 and am a regular telenav user. I have used it a couple of days and so far am underwhelmed.
My issues so far are:
text to speech only on the roads downloaded for that particular trip..so if you go off rte all you get is turn right here. I tried it a couple of times and it did it both times.

It seems to take a minute or so when first started before you can enter data or look at maps. (longer than telenav)

I also had some poi issues, but that can happen.

I will keep using it for a few more days, but at first blush it doesn't seem as nice to me as telenav.

If u go off ur route, u need to select "re-route" on mapquest. Kinda dangerous if driving and typing on ur phone at the same time.

I guess I should have been more specific. My fault...
I was using the free trial version of Mapquest Navigator (And had been since the free trials were first available, just kept deleting the program if the trial expired and downloaded a new one for 3 more months. )
And the Mapquest Navigator is what the tech support guy said they would no longer support, and the newest version doesn't work on my crusty old 7100i as of yet.

Today I bit the bullet and got TeleNav for the 1 year flat rate. My only complaint so far is that it doesn't have a night mode.
The Mapquest Navigator had a night mode that made the background black and the roads green and so on which was much easier on the eyes driving at night as I often have to do. Otherwise I've been happy with TeleNav. That glaring white background really sucks in a dark vehicle with night-adjusted eyes... really blinding, almost dangerous I'd say...

mone will re route automatically, but drops the text to speech streets.

Has anyone downloaded it with a 8100 (Pearl) I tried but it told me that I needed to order some $100+ dollar external blue tooth system with it. How will that help me if I'm using it in someone else's car or walking down the street?
