Internal GPS only works with VZnavigator on an 8830 with Verizon. Many posts on that subject.

Verizon locks the INTERNAL gps OFF. Therefore, nav4all (and other 3rd party (non-verizon software) does not see it. Verizon offers its own gps software/functions for an additional $10/month.

I am still not sure if you pay for the verizon function, whether you can then use the internal gps for other software (non-verizon).

I personally use what is called a gps puck, a separate very small gps that talks to the 8830 using Bluetooth and it works with these 3rd party programs. The one I use is a Freedom 2000 Keychain unit.

Once you get that keychain GPS puck paired up to your 8830 (like mine), you should have no problems with staying connected with it and automatically refreshing the GPS as you travel.
