Default A functional GPS program with export function for the BB 8310? - 05-15-2008, 05:35 PM

Hello all,

I ran a couple searches on the board, but to no avail to my question.

I am trying to find a good GPS utility program that will record a GPS point, and then export this coordinate (csv, GPX, etc). I would prefer to be able to also add a comment (name) to the point, also.

I have tried Spot, which I believe would solve my problem, but the program does not give you the ability to export. (Even though it is listed on their webpage and manual that it does) I have tried to contact them multiple times, but to no avail.

Not wanting to get into a flame thread, but I am just trying to find a good GPS program that actually will serve the purpose that I need.

Thanks in advance!

I'm looking for same. Jenson, are you looking to export OTA to a webserver? I have found plenty of services that you send to their server. I want to be able to send my coordinates to MY server. If I researched hard enough I could probably write some code to get location and send to the server, but surely there is something out there?

Here is exactly what I am looking for CellGPS 2.01 at Viking Informatics - CellGPS 2.01 . However, they don't support BB.

Anything just like it for BB 8130?

Thanks from me too!

gps-ed will save and you can upload to their site and then export the data. You can add a waypoint and that shows up, too.

I am using Spot and already exported waypoints to GPX. It works well, so I don't know what the problem is

I am not sure then, as I cannot find the export function within the program. I have gone through all the different menus, steps, etc. but to no avail.

After I create a waypoint, and I go to the menu, I have a 'copy' command, but not an 'export' command.

I am wondering if the difference between your experience and mine is the model of phone. I wouldn't think that should be a problem, though.

Thanks though for your input, I am glad that someone is able to able to export!

You must have installed the correct version (OS 4.2 and above).

Ah, I figured it out now.

I had installed SPOT orignally without a SD card, and it did not give me the export function.

I just reinstalled SPOT after I had deleted the program and added a SD card.

Now I have the export function available to me.

Thanks all for your replies on this one!

IMO, a better program is bbTracker. There's a thread on it, search for it.
