The amount of time required to get a lock is very dependent on the chip set. some take longer to lock than others.
The OP doesn't explain what gps he is attempting to use. Is it the one inside a blackberry or is it an external unit.
The external unit that I use gets a lock on a cold start with a clear view in 30 seconds.
There really is NO reason for the blackberry to take more than a nimute to get a lock.
Make sure that you have enabled it. Maybe your problem is that your setup to use an external gps when you actually want the internal chip set to operate.
You may be on the Verizon network if so the reson it is taking so long to work is because Verizon wireless has disabled it except for their applications...
Go figure.

You need to be outside with a clear view of the sky. Takes between 5 and 20 minutes to lock onto GPS satellites.
Also you may want to check out the GPS section.
And don't be so rude to us who are trying to help you as you were in your previous thread! If so, no one will even try. |
