Default GPS maps without data plan? - 03-01-2009, 07:26 PM

I am soon going to be joining T-Mobile and I would like to get a blackberry. I am a mere mortal and all I intend to do is texting, and geocaching. $20 extra per month for unlimited data is out of my budget. (I am either getting the curve or the 8820)

Are there any GPS enabled map/navigation programs for the blackberry don't require internet service to constantly download my local maps (ie; I upload my local maps when I install the program)? I do not care too much about bells and whistles like turn-by-turn navigation, all I want is to be free from a data plan.

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

I am no GPS expert. It should work if you are in a wifi area on xx20 devices. However, i am not sure how you could use the program unless the whole world was wifi. Hence, you probably need a data plan

As usual the answer is: refer to the All Known GPS Apps thread.

There's specifically a section named "Maps Stored on Media Card"
