Default gps tracking software - 03-24-2009, 08:19 AM

winmo to BB converter here. on my wm phone. i had a software called nonigpsplot. it's a free app. what it does is puts a white screen on your phone and basically draws a line as your moving around. along with other features, such as speed, alt, direction, etc. has a 100 sq ft radius to 10,000 mile sq ft radius. doesnt require internet, it's all satellite. a real useful peace of software i used when going back country. you never get lost as all you got to do is back step along the line that was drawn on your phone. i'm wondering if anyone knows of an application like that for BB???

nonigpsplot. it can be googled as i apparently don't have enough points to post the link. LOL

Look at bbTracker, listed among our All Known GPS Applications thread. I have used it in the past and from your need, it sounds like it is what you want.

thanks ff. got the link. looks just like bbtracker, (screenwise). both programs will do the trick. i like the added features my wm didn't have. one advantage wm did have though was the ability to change the radius. i'm still playing around, but haven't found that feature yet on bb. if you travel 1o miles on wm. you can zoom the radius to as small as 100 sq ft. the screen would move along the line as you moved. much easier to pinpoint your turns as compared to traveling 10 miles on bb and having the whole track on the screen. but like i said, i'm still playing around to learn the new software.

worse case scenario. i can always pack my wm along. since the software is all satellite, it won't matter that the phone no longer activated. just have to make sure the phone and bluetooth receiver are charged since they won't be getting used anymore.

it's saved my arse quite a few times. better then calling 911 to come and find me.

I've also used one called BigBrotherMe. I think it's bigbrotherme.co.nz. It's free to use although you don't get some features unless you pay. Pretty new by the looks of it but doesn't seem to bad, although doesn't offer any map features like the LiveTracker.
