Default BB maps - 07-31-2009, 08:00 PM

Is there a program that let you save maps on a memory instead of connecting everytime to internet to use them?

thanks

I mean if I have to use the maps outside my country my carrier won't work and so won't be able to use internet, is it correct?

You can get a global services plan for data. Check with your carrier.
It seems that everything you send is a link

Thanks for your reply, I will try to check out if my carrier support that plan.

Regarding the possibility of saving maps in a memory to use them offline, is that possible?

Thanks

You can most likely e-mail a jpg to your phone which is another option that will not use data

Trekbuddy and MobilegMaps (not google) can download maps on then you place them on your device. They can be a bit complex to setup.

Thanks every1,

anyway you can't save maps on a micro sd? and since BB has low memory it would be kinda useless or not?

In other words offline maps isn't really an option for bb right?

Please see the All Known GPS Apps thread (same answer every time someone asks this question). Look for the
"Maps Stored on Media Card" section.

From what I see the maps stored on memory are not worth it and doesn't include navigations. Since good navigator requires online, something I can't get outside my country, it's pretty useless.

I'm gonna give up on BB, bought it especially for maps just to find out it's one of its weakness.

Thank you guys for your help anywway

goodluck

U may pan (at your preferred zoom level) the destination area you are going to visit and BB will save it in its cache/memory. GPS will work on the cached/saved maps even when there is no network. You will see were you are or going but you wont get any directions calculated. I once used this when I had messed up my APN settings but didn't like it but had no other choices.
