Default Blackberry maps links do work on home PC - since when ? - 08-28-2009, 01:09 PM

When I tried to klick a bbmaps link in the past. I thought I remember that this was not possible, because rim did forbid it.

Now, when I checked this again by accident, I see, it works.

has this changed long ago, or is this a recent development ?

What do you mean by "Blackberry Maps link"? And how exactly does it "work" on your home PC?

When I last tried to visit a link like: http://maps.blackberry.com?lat...
With my pc using whatever kind of browser, i was rejected.
I only could see a myp if I used the blackberry handheld.

This was month, if not years ago.

Now, i tried again, and I can see a map.

Unless I'm missing something, all it does is take you to a link to download BB Maps telling you to use your BB to download. You can't actually use the software on your desktop.

You now can at least see a map with your PC-based browser - this is new for me.

try yourself.
Code:
http://maps.BlackBerry.com/?lat=41.89546&lon=12.48232&z=5&label=Rome,Lazio,Italy&city=Rome&region=Lazio&country=Italy

I dont think this will be possible.
But its good that the minimal functionality is there, so that bbmaps links sent via Email are usable , regardless of operating system.
