Default Any thoughts on Google Navigation making it to BB? - 10-29-2009, 12:19 PM

Other than making rumors up, does anyone have any information as to whether Google NAvigation is going to work it's way onto the Blackberry platform?

There's a HUGE difference between Google Maps and Google Navigation.
Google it.

No word on it being ported to BlackBerry yet.
iPhone is in the works, and there's talk of open development for other platforms but no real details yet.

Although Google navigation is free, it doesn't have turn by turn and verbal directions, right? I downloaded it and it seems to work well except for these missing features or am I missing something?

You didn't download Google Maps Navigation. If you had tried, you would have (hopefully) read this part on the website linked above:

Google Maps Navigation is an internet-connected GPS navigation system with voice guidance. It is part of Google Maps for mobile and is available for phones with Android 2.0.

That is what I did. I clicked on the link "Google Maps for Mobile" and I get Google Maps and simple GPS navigation, I don't see any of the other capabilities advertised, voice commands, voice search, traffic view, etc. I have a BB 9700. Refer to the earlier posts. Maybe that is what they meant it hasn't been ported over to the BB yet. Sorry, I'm technically challenged and new to all this since I just got my new BB.

Fair enough. Google Maps Navigation requires Android 2.0, so it will not show up on any other device at the moment. You should have traffic, however, as that is just a layer you can turn on or off.
