Default New Version? 1.4.1? - 11-22-2006, 03:58 PM

I just checked the version and the one I see being used on this site is version 1.3.2, but it looks like there is a new one 1.4.1, I just downloaded it, but I wonder if there were any big changes though.

Downloaded Google Maps using setting mentioned earlier, 8100 rebooted then I got the message "Unknown Error. Fatal Error. Please exit and restart".

Went through the process again and got the same message - what am I doing wrong?

I'm in the UK and on Vodafone network.

Thanks

Chris

Default First download was Google Maps! - 12-02-2006, 10:20 PM

Hey all,

I'm a new BB owner by about one month. The Pearl is my first ever device for email capabilites and I love it. Kudos goes out to this forum, it's great! My download of Google Maps went flawless.

Can someone give me background on leaving the APN fields blank on cingular? My uname/password are filled in here, and I just feel cautious about deleting them.

I'm having an "not allowed by your IT policy" error keeping me from getting in.

My IT folks say that it should work fine, others in the company are using google maps, so I figure it's a setting.

Have your IT folks resend the IT Policy. Since it works fine for others, the IT department needs to verify you have the same policy, and resend it.

Your settings would not give yout the IT Policy error, so the APN isn't your issue.

I use Google Maps on my Cingular 8100, and I never changed the APN settings. My APN settings fields are all filled in - the wap.cingular, username, and password. WAP works fine.

Some people have had to put in their login info (TMo) for MyTmobile into the APN login fields. I'm one of them.

Cingular Process
Go to htp://google.com/gmm from BB browser.
Click on download
Let download
Click Run

Viola!

No change to APN of any sort needed or restart required

Thanks for the help!

Default I Can't even get past Terms and Conditions! - 05-17-2007, 03:22 PM

tried quite hard this evening to download this bad boy, with no luck. As the title says, I get to T & Cs, then it freezes up and claims a serious error!

Is the TCP different for those in the UK? I'm on Tmobile.

1. Add wap.voicestream.com to your APN settings. DO not add a user or password.
2. Pull the battery and reset.
3. Once back on, go to the google maps download site and download the new version. The website can be found in the Google web page.
4. Here is where I messed up. When it finishes downloading, the default is to click OK. Scroll down and click RUN.
5. It should work fine.

Default New Pearl Junkies - 08-21-2007, 11:28 PM

My wife and I celebrated our 7th year ani... we bought the Blackberry Perl from TMobile, I think its also called the 8100, its whats on the box anyways.. I have the black one and she has the white pearl...blabla

I'll try and keep this short..

I tryed the Options/Advanced/TCP APN , saved it as wap.voicestream.com and left user and pass blank...Pull battery out, reset..ok... reboot browser/yahoo search/ google.com/gmm...ok

This is where it gets tricky for me.. I can't find anything that says "download here, download, run...nothing...

what I do see is a download cabs link..and another to download prc, what ever that is..

Basiclly.. I don't know ****! about this and my wife, cough, cough and my self would appriciate any help.

I really can't comment on any other carrier other than TMobile, I've been with them 2 years now and honestly have no complaints on there service.
I work for AT&T as a Site Operations Engineer for there Internet Services Group..funny hu?..I just don't really have the time to dig around.. I came stright to the pros here at BBF.com.

Bring up your T-Mobile browser on your phone.

Click the menu key (key next to the pearl) and select Go To...
Enter Google Maps

There you will get a screen that says
Google Maps
Download Google Maps
for the Blackberry 8100

Click the blue link by scrolling down with the pearl and press enter <-| key (Lower right) or by pressing on the pearl when highlighted.

Then you should get a screen that provides version information with two buttons on the bottom. Download and Cancel.

Scroll down to Download and press the pearl.

You need to have a data plan to receive the download and if you want follow me tracking, then an external GPS puck is necessary.
