Too bad the 8700 doesnt have UMTS. That would make the program much nicer.

Yes i agree. One thing that surprized me is that it also has a 3d view so they realy made a nice improvemetn on it. Options now are 3d, 2d and the usuale turn directions

Telenav is a great application. As soon a GPS internal is released on devices (1st and 2nd qtr) it will make things easier. However, with the navigation puck and EDGE, the application is still pretty impressive.

Now stinsonddog needs to update his comparison. By the way the advise is to unistall the current telenav app and then install the new one.

Ok well if I get it to work. I installed it over the old one and certain functions don't work. Uninstalling now and then will try again.
Ok that worked - UNINSTALL 4.4 FIRST
I will update my page, but note that the material except the navigation is really there already. Note that 5.0 has the two features I really want. Map Summary View of the entire route and Search Along which lets you find POI's along the way.
You can find the guide for 5.0 on Sprint here http://www.telenav.com/support/user-...G%20Sprint.pdf
and look on page 22 of the pdf.

My page is now updated. USERS PLEASE REVIEW IT AND POINT OUT WHAT I MISSED. 4.7 is a significant upgrade with the 3D and 2D maps. I just wish it had a shortcut to change the views from those along with the Turn View also. Finally the only thing I can tell 5.0 adds is what I noted below with the Map Summary and Search Along (the route for POI's) function.

the only quick way I found to switch is to hit the return key and then use the scroll to choose.
edit, by the way, Alt, Esc. works on this too. Antoher thing to note. If it is giding you and you were supposed to go off a bit to the right or left, it takes about 30 seconds to recognize that you went out of the way and then like you said, the recalc is pretty quick. One thing is that it is stubburn and sems to want to take me on too many right ald lefts while the route should be straight and then turn right. I wish their system had a litle smart feature or allows fro som feed back.

Yes, but that only works from the 3D and 2D view and not from the Turn view.

Yup you are right. I think they forgot to invoke that one as they seem to ahve carrried that from the prior function ( a usual thing with programers and that happens with my programers too, LOL).
If you look at teh 3d map you will see something that is also nice about it, when you are getting to a turn, then a red arrow will appear in the map at on the turn itself so it still shows the turn by turn. Seeing that made me give up the turn view.

Wayfinder or Telemap Might be your best bet for Europe. I likes the way Wayfinder worked but like Stinsonddog's review said it has good Euro POI . One thing which i dont know if Telemap has or not, TeleNav has the ability to map from your address book, wayfinder does not Wayfinder and Telelmap seem to run about 99 and 139 euros respectively.

Telenav doesn't need a BT puck with an 8703e on the sprint network....

after a little use on version 4.7, I can say with absolute confidence that this version is MUCH slower than the previous. Not just the 3d maps part, I am talking everything, even the communication with the server seems much slower...

I did not notice that at all. I think at worst it takes teh same amount of time and I tried it in al 3 ways turn, 2d and 3 d and they seem to be the same speed as the 4.4. It could be your EDGE connection.
