Default Deleting Blackberry Maps

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I installed Blackberry Maps on my device but it's not what I expected and want in uninstalled. I thought I did it by going into my applications in the options and deleting it but it's still there. I even tried wiping my handheld but that didn't work either. Is there something obvious I'm missing? Thanks!

If after you deleted the application did you pull the battery to reboot?
Also are you doing a restore from a backup after wiping? if so the application may be reloading. I tried to delete BB maps and it did go away. I also reloaded it via the Application loader and again via the web site.

Not sure why your having this type of problem. Maybe someone has had this issue and can comment.

I can't figure out how to get rid of it either. It's like roaches, they move in but they don't move out...

I pulled the battery out afterwards and I didn't do any kind of restore afterwards. I was thinking maybe one of the service books I have is what's keeping it but of course I'm not going to randomly start deleting those and since none of them are labeled "maps", I'm stuck.

It's there & removable. They just rename it so you don't know what to remove. It's called LBS (Location Based Services). Deleting LBS == Deleting BBMaps

Although LBS and location based services both sound familiar to me, i looked in both my service books and applications but couldnt find anything with that label.

and yeah i did find blackberry maps very uselss. the only reason i downloaded it was because google maps had stopped working for me for a while but now that one is all better.

I have both loaded and use BBmaps because it works with a GPS pod. If google adds the GPS option I may try it again

Have you tried doing a hard reset after deleting the LBS application?

I believe google maps is some how associated with blackberry maps. I had the same issue but resolved it.

well i didnt have google maps installed at the time so i dont think its cause i wanted to keep google installed and thats why i didnt delete everything associated with it, if that makes sense.
i deleted everything i could tell that was related to blackberry maps then i reset by doing the wipe handheld. then when it restarted after i put the battery back in, blackberry maps was still there. so now i just have it hidden in my menu but it is annoying knowing it is still installed on my blackberry.

Well no worder, this worked but what a bunch of idiots. Don't these IT guys ever use the stuff the create?

I greatly prefer google maps over this trash. Maybe the next version will be better. What do you expect from a guy who names the berry map file LBS??? I guess we can't expect much from him.

This trash should have came with a sign! Here your SIGN!

To remove Blackberry Maps completely, you must also get rid of the modules.

Go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications. Once in the Applications listing, click once with the scroll wheel and selection Modules. Delete the following four (4) modules:

net_rim_bb_lbs
net_rim_bb_lbs_api
net_rim_bb_lbs_int
net_rim_bb_lbs_res

Blackberry Maps is now history.
