Now that the 8800 has gps built in, is there any chance of a new pearl, also with gps?

Well I for one can only hope....but kind of doubt it.

Doubt it too, but an external puck is just as good as having it internally. Just think, when the new phase of gps comes out (if there ever is), we can change out pucks (or hopefully flash em) along with a software upgrade on the Pearl. The hardware built in may be able to flash upgrade, but how good will it be?
