I installed Telenav on a Cingular 8800 the other day. For the most part it's working great. But I don't hear any of those "turn right", "turn left" voice prompts that I was expecting.

I tried the obvious like turning up the volume and making sure that the audio wasn't muted, but still no sound.

Does anybody have the Telenav voice prompts working? If so, which sound profile do you use?

They work for me using the "normal" profile.

Same here. Working under normal profile out the box.

I agree - works fine for me when using the Normal profile. Did you install the 8800 version, or try and move the 8700 code over? I've got a colleague who tried the latter (he was using the 8700 w/Telenav and a bluetooth GPS 'puck'), and had a bunch of strange issues, all solved when he deleted and reloaded the 8800 version.

I switched my profile to "Normal" and still no voice prompts. I'm thinking that I may have messed things up for myself when I updated the firmware on my Cingular 8800 to allow the use of Blackberry Maps. Just so I can eliminate that as the culprit...did anyone follow that update and still get voice prompts in Telenav?

Another possibility is that I changed a bunch of the settings in the "normal" profile to avoid hearing sounds. Does anyone know which setting within the normal profile affects the Telenav sound? For instance within the advanced profile settings, you can turn on or off sounds for browser, calendar, phone, etc. I turned on browser and phone, but the rest are off.

I did the bbmaps update and have voice prompts.

The one thing that I did have to do to make bbmaps work was to uninstall telenav, uninstall/reinstall bbmaps and then reinstall telenav - but the problem I had does not appear to be related to yours.

Thanks for the replies. Do you have to turn on the speakerphone somehow before starting Telenav? If so, how?

I know saying that mine worked out of the box doesn't help solve your problem ..... but .......

However, mine works fine without any setting of speakerphone == with Telenav running the directions are announced with no intervention

Mine worked fine "out of the box"...best is to contact Telenav support if you have any probs...their attitude sucked when I called, but they had the right answer to my question

Mine works great out of the box. you may want to change your prefrences for the speaker to very loud. great in my car with the radio on.

Mine worked fine out of the box as well, which as someone else said, doesn't help you much. Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the application? Don't forget the battery pull, which seems to fix about 90% of BlackBerry issues.

No..mine defaults to loudest volume..which is very loud.
