Question Telmap Navigator on BES4

Please Login to Remove!

I have installed the navigator software onto a 8700 device and it worked fine - no error what so ever. As soon as I activated a user the program stops working and gives Network Error - check your network settings...?

Anyone suggest any policy amendments that may work?

Using BES4

Hi - I have this with Telmap Navigator when our proxy user name & password expire and time out (we enforce a proxy challenge for all BB browsing done through the Blackberry Browser). Telmap will work fine for a while after having used the browser (and cached the proxy user & pass), but then if I try to load the Telmap software a few hours later it fails to load with the same error. To make it work again I have to browse with Blackberry Browser and reauthenticate. I wonder if this is the same for you?

Cheers,

Adam.

Try this:
Check to make sure you still have the BlackBerry Internet browser. If not contact your carrier and ask them to send that service book.
I had the same issue with Telmap, once the service book was sent, I had 2 browsers (1 default carrier browser and BlackBerry Interent Browser) and it started working.

Question Help

The telmap works before I activate it - Presumably it uses the vodafone internet connection?

When I activate does the BES4 (policy??) force the application traffic to go via my proxy server?? - I know i can change my browser to the services icon (which is not via my proxy) but how would I check/amend the settings for the internet access for telmap??

Hope this makes sense :P

Help!

Hi Luke. BES policies can suppress the internet browser and force all browsing through blackberry browser (and can therefore be forced to use proxy settings). Sounds like that's what is happening when the device activates and gets fed its policy.

In my experience, Telmap will use whatever browser is selected within the browser application. Pull up the browser, go to Options - Browser Configuration and check that browser is set to "Internet Browser" (which as stated above, may not be available). If it's set to "Blackberry Browser", your proxy settings are probably being enforced and Telmap will need manual authentication to cache the proxy credentials before it will log on.

I have been in touch with Telmap on the issue of proxy credentials. They have had their minds concentrated to it, but haven't confirmed when (or if) they will release a new version to solve the problem.

HTH!

Adam.
