Default Bluetooth GPS Pucks - review thread? - 05-04-2007, 02:39 PM

Now that Google Maps supports Bluetooth GPS, the BB community is gonna jump on the GPS pucks. So how about those who own one (or more) give out a few reviews?

Things that are important to note would be size, accuracy, battery life, price, and possible problems. Also, I know some devices use the standard mini-USB plug, and can be charged w/ the BB charger.

Thanks guys.

I have the GlobalSat BT-359 that Cingular sells. It's very small and it works great.

I just ordered the i-Blue 747 (basically a 737 w/ logging capabilities). I'll give a full review when its in, and I'll consider making a shopping guide for these things, since I just spent the past 6 hours reading up on this stuff.

The Holux GPSlim236, of which I’m selling, works great.

Holux 236 is a great little box. Little larger than the size of the battery and about 4 batterys thick in size.

Quick to lock on sats.

Got mine on Ebay for about $50. There was a store that was selling a bunch of them.

No! GPS is not a chargable service! Even though some providers charge for it to get the built-in GPS receiver (e.g. 8703e at Verizon) activated which is - imho - unbelievable! I don't agree with their policy!

However, BT GPS receivers are a one-time-investement which allows you to get positioning work on any Bluetooth enabled BlackBerry

I found a store that just lists Bluetooth GPS receivers that are working with your BlackBerry: Bluetooth GPS Receivers
