Default Google Maps 1.5.1 - turn off Bluetooth? - 05-12-2007, 03:49 PM

I have searched and came up with nothing. So here is the question.

Installed the new version on my BB 8700g, paired with a puck (just for fun ). After that, every time I open Google Maps, it asks me to turn on the Bluetooth for my GPS. However, I use my Palm TX + TomTom because it provides excellent voice guidance.

My question is, how can I use Google maps with out being asked to "turn on the Bluetooth and pair with puck" each time like in the old days?

TIA!

As far as I can tell, GMM will not turn on BT--the user must do it. But you only have to pair the BB with the BT puck once, not every time you want to use it with GMM.

No, I think what he's saying is GMaps whines every time you start the program about turning Bluetooth on if it isn't already enabled because it tries to find the puck. If you hit Yes and turn it on, its fine (even if it doesn't find the puck). If you say No and don't allow them to turn Bluetooth on, it'll ask you 5 seconds later, over and over and over...until you hit yes.

GMM doesn't work that way on my BB. If I have BT off or the puck is off, GMM gives the message, Sorry, we can't determine your location at present. I press the the space key and the message goes away, and I never see it again (even if I press the 0 key).

I get that message...and then I get bombarded w/ the yes/no box until I give in and hit yes.

That's interesting. I don't get the yes/no query at all.

Stealth is right, I am really fed up with that "Yes/No" question

I have a T-mo 8700g, with the Chinese 4.2 OS and GMaps 1.5.1

Hate to have my BT on, because I don't use BT headset. What I am doing now is reset the phone after I use GMaps. Not a smart idea, I know

OS version is one difference between you and me. Could be the reason I don't get the repeat query and you do.
