Default Sprint GPS fee? - 05-25-2007, 04:33 PM

I'm running BB maps on my Sprint 8703e. Being overly paranoid, I wanted to know if anyone can confirm if Sprint does or does not have a fee for simply accessing the GPS satellites? I know that services like telenav have a monthly subscription. I'm not asking about that sort of thing. I simply mean using GPS on an already free app. Thanks for any help.

You will use data with BB Maps as you will with any application that uses data. However, if you are on an unlimited data plan, this is not an issue. BB Maps, Google maps, won't cost you anything. Telenav and Mapquest Navigator are subscription based either directly through them or through your wireless carrier.

Right right. But, what I want to know is will I be charged for using the internal GPS function of my 8703e. I know the map apps utilize the data portion, but there's also an option to use the onboard GPS to pinpoint where I am. WIll I be charged for linking up with the GPS satellites? I'm not sure if my question is clear...

No, you will not be billed for using the internal GPS function. This is not something that could even be measured or tracked even if they did want to charge for it. At least not on a Blackberry.
