Default Telenav won't get route - 06-03-2007, 06:34 PM

I have been unable to make my Telenav app work. Every time I ask to get a route, it stops around 55% and then says "GPS reception bad, go to open area."

This is on a New York street, in a cab or in my apartment in San Francisco, so I know it's not a regional problem.

Anyone else have problems like this?

One of my users is having this problem on his 7130e from Sprint. The device appears to find the address he types in, but when he clicks Get Route, it gives the bad GPS reception error as above. We've tried it side by side with my device (in downtown Dallas), and he's tried it at his house (outskirts of Dallas) and in Atlanta....no dice.

His account is fine - I can log onto it @ TeleNav - Always find your way! via my PC just fine, but won't work on his device. Works fine on my 7130e, though.

Sprint says it's his device, but I'm not sure I buy it.......yet. I've already tried removing and reinstalling TeleNav, so next step is a device wipe (using JL_CMDER) and reloading the software. As painful as that sounds.

Have you tried to acquire the signal outside? You need a clear view of the sky to have a GPS work. A collegue of mine was going to return a top of the line Garmin 'cause it didn't work. I took it outside and it acquired signal in a couple of minutes.

Outside, inside, makes no difference as I said above. Besides, what's the point if it can't work inside a car?

Mine works in my car just fine..... so *should* work for you, too.

Have you contacted TeleNav directly for support?

No, I haven't. But based on some of the other threads, I don't think they'll be particularly helpful. Maybe I should try the Mapquest app and see if my results are any different.
