Default GPS Software? - 07-15-2007, 01:09 PM

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and would like to start by saying hi to all.

So I recently purchased an 8800 and finding it good and no real bad comments about it. But I would like to ask 1 question...

What GSP software do you guys recommend? I have tried and tested Telenav, BB maps and Wayfinder 7

So far I am very impressed with WF7 but as some say it was a little slow but when it got going it never let me down. The other 2 I didnt get on with at all. Either too basic or no voice directions.

Are there any others I can try out b4 I buy???

Cheers and thanks for ur time

Yeah I have that too but it has no voice direction and would like to have that than rather keep looking at the phone to find where I am. Its safer I think

Yahoo! Go has a really good mapping app that takes advantage of the internal GPS. I find that Yahoo! Go loads the maps faster than any other GPS software.

i think the consensus is Wayfinder is better for Europe/UK and Telenav is better for US. For full-talking directions I havent come across any others that are as good as those two.

I'd recommend Telenav...

I like TeleNav but my question to you is what version of TeleNav are you using? Have you upgraded to the latest version 5.1. I had version 4.6 on my BB when and I got it and found it so-so. I upgraded to the 5.1 version and like it a lot better. I found version 5.1 alot easier to see and use.

Default I'm new too, but have had a 8830 for a while... - 07-17-2007, 01:01 PM

I have a GlobalSat BT-359 GPS puck (thanks VZW) and use TeleNav. I was on the former version for the 8703, but just upgraded to 5.1 for the 8830 and love it. The traffic information is great.

Much better UI than the previous version and easier to see. I did have some trouble installing and had to download twice, but other than that, it's been great.

I have BB Maps and Telenav on my 8800, I use Telenav exclusively. The spoken directions puts it far above BB Maps for my needs.
