Did I miss something. What happened to total elevation in .5. Thought the revised summary screen was coming for sure.

Default 2 new enhancements added - 12-09-2007, 05:21 AM

Ticket #60 (new enhancement): Delete Recorded points
================================================== ==
Frequently my 8800 records a point that is incorrect. Reasons for this include due to the phone being turned upside down, due to interference from water (camelbak), etc. I believe this is common in GPS units.

It would be very useful to be able to delete a recorded point. For example when cycling through the recorded points then to be able to delete the current one.

This would also be a good feature from a security point of view.

Ticket #61 (new enhancement): Add text to .gpx file
================================================== =
It would be great to include some text about the trip within the .GPX file. Then you would have one file containing the trip and description.

E.g. "Today I travelled from London to Bristol with my classmates. Along the way we bumped into Elvis at Paddington Station"

Is that true about errors if the phone is upside down? I don't believe it.

What do you mean about interference from water? Are you suggesting that placing the phone near a water bladder could cause errors? Have you seen that happen? I would have though it would have less effect than being placed next to a human body, which we all do.

Being able to delete points would be good, but just flagging them as deleted might be a good idea, so they can be undeleted if you make a mistake.

When I export and load into Google Earth, what is suppose to happen? I expected to see my track superimposed in Google Earth/Map, but it does not do that. It does take me to the general area I was travelling at the time. I would love to see my track in Google Earth.

The easiest solution to me is to export to a MicroSD card and put that into the card reader slot on my laptop, but it should also work if you export to the devices memory (then you'll need the Device Manager on Windows to get the file to your PC, which I can't help you with).

That's exactly what it does. You might have to activate the check-box next to the imported track, 'though. Additionally you might want to change the color and especially thickness of the exported track, because by default it's just a thin, white line. I might look into changing that default, when I find some time.

Basically I'm working on some minor changes and nice little features as well as getting the Bluetooth access to become stable. Expect a 0.5.1 soon (it will definitely be a much shorter wait this time).

Sorry, I seem to have missed your question. No 0.5.0 does not contain this, as I really wanted to get it out there and had enough on my hands with the Bluetooth support.

The problem is not the summary screen (which will probably be in in 0.5.2, 0.5.1 will be a bug-fix and cleanup release in the next few days), but rather the total elevation that has been requested. I can easily add that, but with the current level of error in the elevation measurement it will be quite useless, unless I add some smart filters. And finding those smart filters will be hard (as in "major headache-inducing hard"). Adding this feature without the filters will just annoy users when the values that are shown are much higher, than the true values.

Changing color and thickness, is that an option in BBTracker, or in Google Earth/Maps. Didn't see anything in tracker.

It's in Google Earth. Do you see the imported track in your items in the tree to the left of Google Earth? First make sure the checkbox next to it is checked, then right-click and select "Properties".

Default Release 0.5.1 - 12-13-2007, 03:51 PM

I'm releasing 0.5.1. As I promised, this is a quick release. I've been focusing on bug fixes and polishing now, as there were some rough edges on the 0.5.0 release (as was to be expected after such major changes).
  • Some better recovery for the Bluetooth Location Provider
  • Fixed an error in sorting on the Track screen
  • some more logging (again)
  • better error messages, when connecting to Bluetooth device fails
  • some cosmetic changes
  • show track length up to the current point (the same way all other displays work)
  • fixed wrong speed when using Bluetooth Location Provider

This release is what I wanted 0.5.0 to be.

Sorry to say, but that's not a very usefull report. It works just fine with my 8800.

Did you try to activate the debug log on the about screen? It should write tons of information to a debug.txt in the track directory.

Oops found a little bug. Steps to recreate it...

Turn network connection off.
Start BBTrack, start a track.
Exit when track is still empty.

Btw network connection makes my 8830 fail to track anything, but it may be unnecessary step as long as track is empty.

Otherwise it's more stable and better. Nice work so far. :D

EDIT: Apparently starting a track is also a unnecessary step.

Default Log output - 12-15-2007, 05:31 AM

Hi Saua, OK it's good to know that 5.1 works with your 8800. However with mine it does not and the log shows the following:

11:24:39 BBTracker first startApp
11.24.40 o [API] JSR-179 available
11.24.40 o [API] Bluetooth available
11.24.40 o [API] RMS available
11.24.40 o [API] File available
11.24.40 a Setting locationListener with interval 5
11.24.40 a Toggling state from 0 to 1

--
That's it. The main screen says "nothing to report, yet".
The TeleAtlas app finds satellites immediately, as do the 4.x releases of BBTracker

This looks like you've not set up the correct Location provider (it should have set that up automatically after the upgrade).

Look into the options and check that the value of the "Location/GPS" option is set to "Location API (JSR-179)".

If that's not set up, then please set it to that value and report back. Could you tell me what it was set up to?

The "Location/GPS" option was already set to "Location API (JSR-179)".
