Default TeleNav in Canada - 08-27-2007, 10:31 PM

Can someone please verify that the TeleNav software that is loaded on my Blackberry Pearl will work in Canada ?
I have contacted TeleNav and ATT and neither will verify, I am hoping that someone with real hands on experience with the TeleNav software was able to get it to work in Canada,

Thank you

The last time I talked with a TeleNav rep (and our Sprint rep) I was told that TeleNav does not work outside the U.S.

Did you actually try it ? I am able to get directions to a Canadian address but never actually used it in Canada. TeleNav told me the same thing but I am able to get directions but never ventured to try and use it in Canada. I am hoping in this forum has actually tried it.

No, I have not tried it, but I have several users who have TeleNav installed and have called me from Canada (Calgary) and asked why it wasn't working....

HOWEVER, now that I think about it further, I have a co-worker in Calgary (on Rogers) who said they could now get TeleNav on their devices....so perhaps the story has changed.

Thanks for your responses.

Is there any other users that can verify that this has worked in Canada ?

Thanks

I have a Telus 8830 and had Telenav installed - I used one of the American carrier's links on the site and even used my Canadian credit card for payment. It worked fine in Canada and while travelling in the US, the only problems I had was with the phone itself and after switching handsets am now using Garmin and Mapquest Navigator instead.

I don't see why you'd have any problems in Calgary (I'm there too) unless your data roaming isn't working properly.

Any experiences in the Toronto area with AT&T service?

I'm on Rogers in Toronto and have no problems.

The only issue is that I'm running 5.1 (unsupported by Rogers), and Telenav will not load Canadian addresses from the address book. You can key them in just fine.

I used my Verizon 8830 with a Qstarz puck and Telenav in Toronto, and it works perfectly.
