My wife did just that. She prefers the larger keyboard on the LG, and likes the touchscreen as well. You give up some functionality (push e-mail, especially), but it's a nice phone. Just make sure you get software version V05 - it's a new firmware update that improves battery life and browser functionality, among other things. The update takes about 45 minutes at the local store (it's too big for OTA).

BTW, I would highly recommend a screen protector. We put an Invisible Shield on hers, and it works great, without interfering with the touch functions.

just a quick thought... i went the other way... from the Voyager to the 8130... a lot more functionality, faster web browsing, a lot more 'settable' features.... just my opinion

I went into Verizon last month to purchase the Voyager and walked out with the 8130. I have spent limited time with the iPhone and iPod Touch and was expecting the touch screen of the Voyager to react similarly. After spending about two days toying around with the Voyager in the store, I was unimpressed with the touchscreen, the UI, and the general size of the Voyager. The touch screen did not seem very robust, and I literally had to dig into the screen to drag the picture. I simply can't see its soft screen lasting two full years reliably.

I'm much more happy with the 8130, although I would probably pick up an iPhone if it were available with Verizon.
