Default Iphone - Exclusive to UK CPW - 06-10-2008, 04:04 AM

I had confirmation this morning of the following;

Quote:
we're bringing to our customers FREE with selected pay monthly tariffs from 11 July. The 3G iPhone will also be available to Pay As You Go customers. Once again we've secured the 3G iPhone as the exclusive independent high street retailer.
Carphone win the exclusive again...

What!!??
Firstly, Carphone Warehouse did a terrible job of marketing the iPhone, it was all O2
Secondly, free iPhone? Theyre desperate for a shedload of sales
Thirdly, iPhone on PAYG? That means no 'The Cloud' wireless internet, and possibly no visual voicemail, unless theyve made a 'Visual Voicemail Lite'

A free iPhone with an expensive contract, or a £100 iPhone with a less expensive contract, what's the difference? CPW will still make roughly the same.

I suspect those getting a PAYG iPhone are expecting a more cheap-n-cheerful experience anyway. I guess it's aimed more at kids / low volume users, and I bet it will be damn popular.

Do you own an iPhone?

I agree, the PAYG option will be marketing at a much younger audience and I also agree it will be incredibly popular.

Its like the Kickstart that will be also available on PAYG. For us (Indirect) this will be massive with our dealer base.
