Default Text Pictures to iphone - 08-10-2008, 11:29 PM

My daughter has an Apple iPhone and she just told me that she can't receive MMS pictures, is this true? She said it wasn't because of her cell phone provider, that it is the iPhone that is the problem.

Thanks!

Phones that cost £20 from Tesco (UK Supermarket) can do that.

Strange.

Apple is going the by the way of email, and that is how they want you to send them.

I don't understand why they do it that way, but that is how it is. One of the reasons I disliked AT&T and the iPhone.

My roommate has an iPhone and whenever you send any type of MMS it just sends them a link to some other site to view the message... I never understood that when picture messaging is so popular nowadays.

T-Mobile does the same thing for the Sidekicks pre-LX. I always hated that.

That is true, no MMS, and it is very well-documented. They are capable of adding it in the software, but who knows if/when they will. With the iPhone, you can send/receive pics through email, you can use viewmyminutes.com (which I hear is absolute crap), or there is also an app you can download called Quip that allows "MMS." When you send pics from the iPhone it appears as a website link to your friends, they click to view the pic. You can also receive MMS through it... The only drawback is that friends who don't have internet on their phone account can't view. But I have heard lots of positive feedback about it...

Not exactly. There are apps like SwirlyMMS that work, or are supposed to. If you don't jailbreak your phone, it is the only way. Once you jailbreak, your options change, such as third party apps.

As more and more smart phones enter the market, there will less and less need for MMS. I could take it or leave it personally. Email is much more functional to me.

I know of atleast one Apple app that I have heard positive reviews about from users, called Quip. You don't need to jailbreak the phone to use it, as it is found in the Apple app store. I mentioned it above in this thread.

Apple also insists that a one-button mouse is just fine. No need for those other, confusing buttons.

update to the new century - their mouse is two button... the trackpads are multitouch with up to 4 finger gestures.

It's really not that difficult to use once you get used to it. I hardly notice a difference now and I'm just as quick with the one button as I was with two before.

Plus, there's always the option of a USB mouse. This one is quite good - Amazon.com: Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 - Slate: Electronics

come on Apple has made / used 2 button mice for years now. and their trackpads have 2 finger touches that function as two button mice.

Yep. My bluetooth mighty mouse (love that name) looks like it has one button and a scroll wheel, infact the left/right clicks are still different, it might be "one unit" but you just click a different part of it.
Lots of new Mac users miss the fact that OSX often ships with the left/right click setup to do the same, so they just think it is a one button device. It is not.
