Wirelessly posted (My Bold)

Why does apple hold a press conference every single time there is an update to the iphone??

RIM didn't hold a conference when they threw out 4.5 or 4.6

Microsoft didn't hold one when they released Service pack 1 for vista... Of SP3 for XP.

Palm doesn't do it when they release anything...

Why just apple??

(This might need to go into rants and raves...)

You mean why NOT RIM? At least they announce the new features instead of leaving it for the masses to figure out what they did.

Their sales justify why they do these meetings. Its does what they want it to, gets the attention of customers, developers and competitors. And of course it gets attention in threads like this one.

Apple knows what they're doing. They are a marketing powerhouse. As test stated, it grabs people's attention and gets them hyped for the release.

Yes the iPhone 3G OS is a huge, colossal failure. They must announce each subsequent failure to develop the OS publicly and accept their lashings.

Maybe he is saying the iPhone in general isn't good?

It's better than your grammar. I love my iPhone, for what it's used for. It sits in my right pocket, right next to my Berry. Best of both worlds.

Yeah, that makes more sense, thanks jsconyers (St. Pattys day kicking in).
I have to say I never regret having my iphone.

I personally like the iPhone as a "phone." I don't see myself switching to it over my BlackBerry as the BlackBerry does everything I need for it to do.

Hence the 3.0 Presentation. This is a full point release and it's a significant one. I also agree that it's good marketing and drives customer excitement. It's was and still is a ground breaking device. The only thing that comes close to touching it is the Palm Pre.

Don't get my wrong, I think Blackberry devices are fantastic for enterprise. RIM got it right. As for me, once I am done work for the day it goes in my bag and stays there. Blackberry for work, iPhone for life and the fun stuff.

x2!! I got the iPhone for the entertainment value, and I keep the BB because it's a messaging powerhouse. Though I don't tend to carry the BB after hours. I just enable my forwarding rule on my enterprise notes client to keep in touch with a select group of contacts.

Probably because there were very few reasons to get excited about. I"m sorry, but I seldom think of RIM and exciting in the same sentence. Sure they work great, but they are boring never the less.
