Yep. After owning a BlackBerry for a little over a year, I've decided to move o to another device. Instant e-mail was never a big deal to me, although it was nice, and that's it's main feature. With the lack of features (camera, etc.) I've decided to move on to the Cingular 8525. I know that about 99% of the members here say that Windows Mobile is terrible, but I've also heard from several people that they've had no problems with it at all.

I've learned so much from this site that I almost feel like I'm a BlackBerry expert. Hopefully I'll be able to find a website like this one to help me with all me problems. I may come back to the BlackBerry sometime, but for now, I'm moving on.

Again, thanks to everyone who contributes to this website for teaching me so much. take it easy guys...and girls.

I'm not going to preach about BB's or Bash Windows (To hard). I've had a Windows Mobile (Q) and Treo (Palm OS) and the BB's (3 7130e 8700g 8703e) and minus it's lack of camera and media support I still love and find myself back at them. You'll have a GREAT time tinkering with ALL the things you can do on them other phones, but once the crashing starts or in my case the phone randomly shuts off and won't start and the crappy battery life you'll question it. But yes if your looking for those features you'll sacrafice in other areas. Good luck!

Again, I've talked to several people who have never experienced that with their Windows Mobile device. The #1 thing I'm going to miss about the BlackBerry is the auto text feature. I really love that and I don't think the 8525 has that feature. That's what I'm really dreading about the switch.

What about this different device (Cingular 8525) do you find compelling?

For me, the only downsides to the WM device (MDA II) was battery life and it was bulky. Instant email is nice, but having my WM device check email automatically every 15 minutes worked for me. Actually, when it checked email it would turn on and depending on what was in my pocket hitting the screen, it would be dialing or launching a program every so often. I did have to reset it more frequently too, probably once a week.

Good luck on you endevours. I deal with Ipaqs almost on a daily basis and after all the wow factor from the Windows fluff wears off.....I see it for what it is......WINBLOWS.

Thanks, archer. It's actually several things about it that draws me to it. The camera/video recorder, expandable memory to store my favorite songs on and be able to play them anywhere, touchscreen and wi-fi are the main reasons. I know that the 8800 will supposedly support most, if not all, of what I just listed, except for the touchscreen, but I'm a very impatient person and want it NOW! Like someone said earlier, having instant e-mail is very nice, but having it checked every 15 minits will do just fine for me.

But I'm not going to be leaving this website. I'll still be browsing it everyday and when the oppertunity comes, try to help others out.

I agree, I got the Moto Q, and within hours was longing for my 8703E,

Thankfully Bell is very understanding, and gave me my 8703 back.........never again !

thatboiwes, I came to BB from a WM5 device (E-ten M600+) that it's preety similar to tytn (8525). Both have the same cpu, one of the fastest available. In my case I was preety excited about hardware specs (2 Mp camera, 256 Mb RAM, etc) but the main problem is WM isn't designed for ease of use or fast GUI. For me, dial a phone from address book took 30 secs and several taps (no way of do it from keys).
Anyway, I learned a lot about WM devices, if you have any question, please let me know. I'm sure that you'll come back for simplicity and power!!

I just got the 8525 today and so far I'm loving it. My only complaint is the keyboard. I just wish it was a little smaller. but other than that, I'm not missing my BlackBerry.

Just give him a week or two to compile all the junk that those things pile up with. When it starts dragging and hanging.....he'll see what me meant.

By the way.....I have no idea about the phone itself, just the Windows mobile.

I messed around with a BlackJack before deciding to go with the 8525, I didn't like it at all. There was just something about it that I didn't really like. I don't think I could use a Windows Mobile device that wasn't touch-screen.

Anyways, its benn a full day that I've been able to test things out and I'm STILL loving it.
