i just traded my 8 gig IPHONE with someone on this forum for the 8300 i already have the 8800 but the blackberry is so much better if you need a toy get an iphone but if you need e mail for serious work and communcation get the blackberry. hands down the blackberry wins in this case. for 29.99 ye get unlimited data and instent e mail |

What do you want out of your phone?
I have had an 8800 and I now have an iPhone.
My priorities are:
* Email
* IM
* Basic calendar functionality
* Reliable OS
* Durable
If media is important to you and you are ok with NOT having push email NO MATTER what they tell you, then you may prefer the iPhone.
If you want to load 3P apps without hacking your phone and want TRUE push email then the iPhone may not be for you.
I have had my iPhone for about 2 months and while it is a beautiful device and the screen quality and durability is AMAZING.. I just FRIGGIN HATE the fact that I cannot have 3P apps like Jive Talk, Viigo, etc and that the emails SUCKS compared to a BB.

Did you trade your iPhone for the 8300 straight up? The 8GB iPhones are still going for almost $400 on eBay. I have thought about trading my iPhone for an 8800 but would prolly not do it straight up at this time.

If email is your priority then by all means go BB.
If browsing, media are the priority then go iPhone.

I have decided to keep my iphone after also considering the curve, though i have to say that the blackberry is also a great device. but i use the iphone functions alot more, rather than to carry a BB and my Ipod it puts the 2 in 1 well.

I would like to clearify. Email is better on BB
but typing is even for me, I'm as fast
on iPhone as I am on 8800

I'd have splurged on a $400 iPhone if it had a better camera and Exchange Activesync and/or Blackberry Connect support. Instead I went cheap with a used BB 8700g.

Totally agree with this. The first week of typing on the iPhone can be a pain (any phone is like this) but once it learns your habits it gets MUCH better. I swear sometimes I can just type in the general area and it works.
Actually, the iPhone keyboard software is always looking at your letter combinations and predicting the possible outcomes.. with this information it adjust the area around the keys that are possible "next" letters. The keys don't appear any bigger but if it knows the only next letter is say an "a" it makes the area around the "a" bigger and the other keys' area is reduced.

I live in Az and i traded my 4gig iPhone for a brand new in the box 8300 and hooked it up and i been crazy over it , ever since.
i just cant wait till the 9xxx series and then its on, but yeah.

i dunno how u guys type on the iphone, but i always get the keys next door.
im a one finger typist on the iphone.
lack of tactile feedback is also a major downside.
i think im gonna go the route of ipod touch + 8310 :D and ill have the best of both worlds

just takes time to get used to it. it took me time to get used to the 8800 and both work very well for me.
those people who keep saying the iphone is a toy do not explain that notion. It does the same things as the BB, maybe some not as well but wouldnt that make the BB just a better toy?

After thoroughly testing the iPhone 8gb for my clients I can sum it up pretty well. If you need corporate email, calendar and contact sync then you shouldn't even look at the iPhone. If you are an individual user that is happy with pop3/imap mail polling from the device and want a really great web experience, then the iPhone is targeted at you. The lack of corporate sync, 3rd party apps like YIM, Gtalk, Skype, office compatibility and the ability to unlock and use the phone on other networks when you travel internationally makes the iPhone the wrong choice for corporate use. IMHO.

in theory cocorporates dont really need the phone to be unlocked as they will just pay for the roaming charges.
as a mobile web device its pretty damn good, the good news for the rest of us im sure is we can expect teh same browser goodness over the next 12months.
its definately the new bling of the telephone world.

Well I went out and got an iPhone myself (at a small discount). The BB withdrawl was terrible the first week. Now I am getting more use to it and my typing has increased with each use. There are drawbacks as with any device.
Pros: web, multimedia, 8 gigs on a phone, voice quality is actually good, very intuitive interface, its a beautiful device with some brains
Cons: email every 15 minutes unless you manually check your mailbox, speaker phone is useless, no removable battery, update through iTunes only, non searchable address book
My plan with the iPhone is cheaper than my BB, I am now paying $80 instead of $110 a month. But I'd be lying if I don't add I do miss my BB at times.

Everyone has their own opinion and I love my BB! Hands Down! Tried the iPhone for a day a buddy let me use his and I just cant seem to get use to it. My first BB I had it on lock in like 25 minutes!
Blackberry 8700g unlocked with T-Mobile. Back to the BEST.

i wanted to get Sirius on my BB for along time and I now have it on my iphone, works with both EDGE and wifi. works with most streaming media.
