Unhappy My 7280 SIM card holder has broken - help!

Please Login to Remove!

The SIM card holder -- the moveable piece into which you slide the SIM card -- in my 7280 has broken. Would anyone happen to know where I can get a replacement SIM card holder? I have heard that this part may have a slightly different design depending on where the 7280 was made (e.g., Canada, Hungary, etc.). Mine was made in Canada. Thanks in advance for any help!

Default sim card holder

While the part alone may be available out there, a simple solution would be to make a warranty claim through your carrier if the device is 12 mths old or less. They should send you an advance replacement new or refurb unit.

Very good suggestion. Unfortunately the device is 16 months old. I tried going to RIM but they said that it would be a "significant repair"...which I really doubt since the SIM card holder can be easily removed and replaced with a pair of tweezers.

Would anyone happen to have a broken 7280 which they were thinking of discarding? I might be able to salvage the part I need from it. Would be willing to pay for the device, of course. Thanks!

you don't need a new SIM gate.
one wad of well chewed gum placed in the right spot should do the trick.
