In May I will head out for safari in South Africa. Of the 3 week trip, about 12 days will be possibly without access to power. It is important that I can be reached while there. I have an 8830 and am told that I will have service, but I am concerned about power. I have a second battery, but would like an alternative source of power. I have a Solio, and just purchased a USB/AA-Battery charger from Boxwave. It doesn't appear that either is strong enough to charge my BB though (after a few seconds the "power cord" display goes off).

Does anyone have any suggestions on a back-up power source?

in vehicle charger? even land rovers have ciggarette lighters!
