Question Faking the holster profile

Please Login to Remove!

I'd like to set up the Blackberry so that it vibrates in my pocket but rings when it is in its desktop stand. Is there anyway of tricking the Blackberry into thinking that it's in its holster (which I never use) so that I can use that ring profile?

Maybe a better question -- How does the BlackBerry know that it's in its holster?

A small magnet in the holster makes contact with a small magnetic switch in the BB.

BB holsters and cases incorporate a small/thin magnet that tell the BB its in its holster/case. Check the holster that came with your device and you will see it somewhere near the bottom.

Thumbs up

My son carries his 7520 in his pocket as you do. He went to Wal-Mart and purchased a thin sheet of magnet and cut a piece of magnet to the shape of the bb and adhered it with doule sided stick tape. Draw back, after a few times of him taking it off, he needs a new piece of double sided stick tape. But it works well enough to put the bb in his pocket.

Great thoughts. Thanks so much for your quick replies. I'll try attaching a magnet to the desktop stand so that it hits the switch and fakes the BB into thinking it's in the holster.
