Default USB Printer? - 06-09-2008, 01:16 PM

Hi!
I would like to know if anyone here knows about a good USB printer for blackberry.
I've found TONS of bluetooth printerss but that's not what I'm looking for...
I'd like to have a printer which connects to the handheld via the USB cable...

Is that possible?

Is there some kind of adapter required?
Thanks!

It's not possible to connect a printer to the BlackBerry via USB.

The USB port in the BlackBerry is not a host controller.
You cannot attach printers to it in that manner.

Perhaps you misunderstood what those other people were talking about.

It might work via Bluetooth, but not through USB.
Best to call them and ask any compatibility questions you have before making a purchase.

Default Planon PrintStik - 06-12-2008, 08:41 PM

No, not USB, not color, not plain paper.

The new Planon PrintStik is a Bluetooth-connected full-page thermal printer, so it runs like those old fax machines, printing on thermal paper. You end up paying 5-11 cents per sheet (straight sheet or roll).

It works with Windows in the way you'd expect.

It also works with text e-mail on a BlackBerry today.

The challenge with HTML is that a BlackBerry doesn't actually render page HTML today for either e-mail or Web pages.

But I understand that a change is in the works that will make those HTML pages available in the handset, so I don't think it will be too long after that before Planon will release updated BlackBerry drivers to make those pages look like they should.

They tell me the top request is to be able to print boarding passes.

It may or may not be what you want today, but it's an option.

(I have one).
