Question Workout Case for 8830? - 07-05-2008, 06:30 PM

I go running/biking often and I just picked up a S9 from motorola (a2dp stereo bluetooth headset) I want to use it with my blackberry when running or biking.

I will need a case with an arm band, or something that will clip onto my shorts (preferably an armband)

It will need to be waterproof (to an extent) to resist any sweat.

I saw this one: discountcell.com/cellular/pn/Blackberry_9067004 but it is not specific to the 8800 series, so I don't know about the fit.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with a case that would work?

thanks,
-Andy-

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

I did a half marathon with the device in my pocket. I used a special pair of Nike shorts. My device did not bounce nor get wet. If you find out anything about the arm band, I am interested as well. The key is not getting it wet. (No pun intended)

The s9's can be location specific otherwise folks get breakups and dropouts. I have mine in an Otterbox for my hiking/biking/xcountry skiing. At the gym I keep it in a small fanny/waist pouch. You have to protect it from moisture - they appear to be very sensitive to damp conditions.

I keep mine in the otterbox - frankly, getting it in/out of the otterbox is somewhat of a chore. What I've done is remove the spring beltclip thingie and just use the rest of the holster as a case and it has the standby magnet.

I do have a Noreve case for my 8830 but the standby magnet did not work correctly. The flap would slip up in my pocket and suddenly the phone was on and dialing a number - got old fast.

For running and biking, I go low tech and drop my Berry into a baggie, and keep it in my pocket.

I don't use any media apps, so quick access is not an issue - but I do use bbTracker (for my own record keeping) and GPS Tracker (so my wife can find out just where I am).
