Default My wet blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

So, in act of pure genius, I dropped my bb in water. It now does not turn on and has three successive red led flashes in a row. Here are my questions:

1. does the red led mean that the phone is dead for good?
2. is there any way i can open it up to dry it out? although, the back seemed fairly dry - it's just some condensation on the sides of the screen.

Any help would be greatly *greatly* appreciated as I just bought this and bought it off of Ebay so there's no way to return it.

thx.

Tannis

Take the battery out NOW and leave it out.

It could take several days to dry out completely.

And read this: Got Your BlackBerry Wet? - BlackBerryFAQ

If you're patient, and leave the battery out, there is a good chance you can save it. I dropped my 8130 in water last fall and after 48 (painful) hours it dried out and was fine (and still works).

The trick is to be patient.....and resist the temptation to put the battery in to see 'how much is working now'.

Oh, and welcome to the forums -wish it could have been on a better note!

It also helps to pull the battery as quickly as possible.

Well, i pulled the battery out, let it dry out (and it's completely dry now). It turns on and looks like it has normal functionality but the trackball doesn't respond at all. Any ideas?

Glad it's almost all working now. You could either take the battery out and let it dry another day or so, and/or contact HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, The World’s Cellular Repair Center Ŗ and order a new trackball. They are very easy to replace.
