Default identical curves reading microsd card differently

Please Login to Remove!

I just bought two Blackberry Curve 8310s. I also ordered a pair of 8gb microsd cards to go with them. Both phones were bought the same day, have the same cards, use the same carrier (AT&T)and have the OS version (v 4.2.2.170).

From the information I read, my carrier's version of the OS should only recognize 4gb of the 8gb cards. My phone is acting as expected and reading 3.6 gb on the card. My wife's identical phone however is reading 7.6 gb. I can't find any reason for the difference. Still, it stands to reason that if one phone reads the whole card, a smarter person than myself should be able to get another identical blackberry to read all 8gb.

Any ideas on what may be causing them to read the cards differently?

Hi...

Can you try this? Format yours that is only seeing 3.6gb in a pc using an adapter. Format the card FAT and then place it back into your phone. Of course you will need to backup your data prior to doing this.

Thx...

H.

Default That did the trick

Just because the card is recognized does not mean all 8gb are accessible. You still should only be able to recognize 4gb.

Default Confirmed: 8130 is recognizing all 8gb on microsd card

Problem: When I put an 8gb microsd card into my blackberry I could only get it to recognize 3.6gb.

Solution: I removed the card from the phone and did a quick format using the USB microsd card reader that came with my card. I put the card back in the phone and it now recognizes 7.5gb. The desktop shows my blackberry with 7.59gb.

I don't know if it should work. But I can confirm that it does work.
If you bought a card without a reader you should be able to pick one up separately for $10 - $20.
