Question Blackberry pearl white screen, pressure break? - 02-24-2009, 06:51 PM

I have an 8100, and a couple of days ago slipped on wet concrete. When I later checked my phone that had been in my pocket I had a white screen with black crack like patches on it. The phone works fine (email, incoming texts, phone calls), I just cant really see the screen. I can see the date, time, battery symbol and bars across the top (barely). I was told this is a pressure break. Can I fix this? A cell repair company told me $90 to fix it. I can almost buy a new one now for that much.

Thank you for any help

You are correct, it is a pressure break. If you are feeling brave, you could repalce the LCD, but it may run you as much as having a repair facility do it.

Do you have insurance on your device?

1st Step in Troubleshooting: Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?
2nd Step in Troubleshooting: Pull the Battery.

I dont have insurance (arg). I found a video on youtube that shows the repair for this phone.

Coincedentally, they sell the repair parts. Will I only have to replace the LCD screen? They sell it for $39.99, is that about right? A repair place I called said it would be $90.
Do you think it is worth it for me to buy the screen?
Thank you very much
