Default Case/skin that's compatible with dock?(8130) - 06-30-2009, 06:46 PM

Trying to find a good skin or case that is durable and looks good, and will work with the BB dock I bought.

When I got the dock I also got a Case-Mate 2nd Skin protective rubber case, but it's a bit bulky for my liking and forces me to scroll with the tip of my thumb rather than the print area of my thumb, which is very uncomfortable. It also makes the 8130 too thick to fit in the dock, and doesn't expose the rear charging tabs anyways.

Do those clear peel & stick protectors work pretty good? I can't imagine them being drop-proof, but if they offer scratch/scuff protection I'd be sold on 'em...brand new silver 8130 here, I'd like to keep the screen and everything else free from scratches.

Take a look at Phantn Skinz.

From personal experience it takes a lot of the drop and with your lighter phone it will take even more and probably all of the drop damage.
It works very well and i highly recommend it to you.

Ah yes, I had a set of these from eBay a while back on my old 8130. I ruined pretty much all the pieces except the screen cover and battery door cover, due to improperly applying them. It was also hard to properly apply the screen cover without air bubbles.

If there is a trick to applying these, I may buy another set because I do like these skins. Simple, thin, also protects screen...and pretty durable for what it is. The $24.95 price is a little steep, though.

I agree a little on the price but I still think its worth it though. I'll tell you how I apply it to my phone just in case you get another one.

When I apply it i use a spray bottle because i heard it was easier.
-Get fingers wet then peel the skin off then spray both the phone then the skin.
-Hold one end of the skin with wet fingers and place the other side you are laying down in place.
-You may have to lift it up and place it down a few times before you get it.
-Then roll the skin down so the water travels everywhere under the skin
-You may also have to lift and put down a few times here to. Just make sure its not sticking to the screen yet.
(you may see some bubbles under at this point and thats ok)
-Give the top a light spray.
-Then squeegie one side.
-lift up the other side one more time then roll it down again to make sure the water is all around.
(you may ned to spray a little bit under the skin again)
-Then squeegie it.

That is exactly how I do it so I tried to make it as simple and as detailed as possible. I have had it for years and have tried a few other companies to see which one is the best and I chose Phantom Skinz. Hope this works for ya!

I use BestSkinsEver on my 8330 and it fits perfectly in the BB dock. At first it seemed a little snug, but after about inserting/removing about 5 times, it fits fine.
