Hello
I dropped my bb 8900 lightly oin a rock pool, it didnt even go under, just lightly touched, anyway, Keypad isnt working, trackbal is fine just doesnt select and the top standby and lokc button dont work.

I did this yesterday night, i hair dried it and there was no luck.
i took it to a phone shop he cleaned it with an alchol clean or somting and it didnt work but he told me the cable connecting my keypad to somthing had burned out.
is there anything i can do.
I dont really want to claim on my house insurance, and it wasnt insuranced thorugh T-mobile.

If you have turned it back on since it got wet, then you are probably out of luck and it is fried.

Do a search on here and you will find that the most frequent drying technique is to remove the battery and place the device in a bag of rice for several days to let the rice take out the dampness

But given the above diagnosis, it might be DOA.

Got Your BlackBerry Wet? - BlackBerryFAQ

Read this above. The key is to remove the battery NOW and leave it out for several days. Use the box of dry rice and DON'T put the battery in to check it in just one or two days.

Be patient and give it time.

Of course if your mobile shop loosened a connection or messed something up in the re-assembly, your in bad shape. Otherwise, for a little water, the device would have been very easy to save.

If you can file a claim via your homeowners insurance, go for it. I'll be surprised if you're even covered unless you have 'contents insurance'. If it happened outdoors, try the solutions above. You may also check eBay as well for a new device, rather than going back to your carrier.

At this point? Replace it.
