I talked to RIM about this and they told me I am out of luck, but I don't like that answer so here goes nothing.

I have a two 7290's and both handhelds have version 3.8.0.139. On one I can go into Options, Network, and set it to change networks manually or automatically. When it is set to Manual, I can perform a Scan of Available Networks. With the second one these options do not appear.

I went through every setting on the phone and found no difference.

RIM says that this is not a supported option on the Cingular 7290 in either ver 3.8 or 4.0.

I have loaded ATT handheld ver 3.8.0.145. No luck.

I have loaded the Hong Kong handheld ver 4.0.0.185. No luck.

I am next going to load the 7280 4.0.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Do you have a phone number for RIM.

Would love to talk to a service rep about the problem I am having "Pairing" my 7290 to the Chrysler/Jeep UConnect system.

It's a cingular simcard thing, not a rim thing. Good luck getting cingular to open up the network scan on your sim. Sorry

Have a friend that just got a 7290 with the 4.0 OS. They can do a network manual switch. I have the 3.8 OS and can't. Its a company BB so will be getting an OS upgrade soon. Hope it will resolve the same issue you are all having. It works with my friends machine just fine.
