Default Nextel 7520 ring insufficient - 03-02-2006, 12:03 AM

Seems regardless of what settings I try with my 7520, it buzzes or rings twice in my belt clip, then rings the third time as I'm hastily snatching it out to answer it. By the time I try and get it to my ear... it's hung up on my caller and I'm constantly playing call-back! Is there any way to set the ring to more than 3 or 4 chimes???
Depending on the work I'm doing, I sometimes can wear my BT250 Bluetooth wireless and even then I sometimes can't get my hands wiped off and punch the answer button quickly enough (Even aircraft mechanics get greasy hands). Any help appreciated!

Default Easy fix - 03-02-2006, 12:43 AM

I had the same problem you did and finally found a thread where another member suggested to call Nextel customer service (611) and ask them to increase the number of rings before going to voicemail.

I did this and had them move it to 6 rings instead of 3. Now my phone is awesome and I have a chance to actually read the caller ID before missing the call. Do this, and you'll be a happy camper.

Thanks Peter,
I did exactly that, and Nextel Customer Service activated what they call "Ring Extension". Seems so far to work like a charm.

Yes, the rings before voicemail is on the network side, not a setting on the BB

(the vm is on the network, i can't check the phone settings to see if it starts after 3-4-5 rings)

For those who can't change the rings, like those who have TELUS iDEN (MIKE) network BB's, there seems to be another solution :

get a really really long ring tone (i'll get the link later)

i know this is a band-aid solution, but i hope TELUS will change that restriction
