Default Availablilty of Casing?

Was wondering if anyone would have access to get me a new casing (the plastics) of a Blackberry 7750.. I was looking into painting mine, and would love a spare just in case.

I've been looking around the net and talking to my ATT and T-mobile reps here about finding replacement housings. So far the only thing us three can find is the battery door. There's got to be a company out there that has replacement housings. I'll continue to look for you. So far no luck though :(

There is a company that has replacement housings, they are called Research in Motion.

Seriously though, I doubt that RIM will be in any hurry to let anyone else get their hands on casings, you are potentially hampering its rf performance by opening it up and while the vast majority of time it won't make any difference, they aren't going to go out of their way to give themselves any extra rma work at all. You can buy the battery door because its can be lost by the careless and/or unlucky.

Think about what you just said there, you stated they wont go out of their way from getting extra RMA work. The second I unscrewed the first screw on the blackberry, I voided any warranty that I may of had. I see no reason for RIM not to provide me with a casing, they have provided me with large quantities of screens, and internal batteries before.

That was in the past when they were a lot smaller though and as far as voiding the warranty, if somebody broke theirs trying to change the casing then quite a lot of them would still try to rma it, so they would still lose resources dealing with those people when they had to tell them to get lost.

Incorrect. My dealings with them have been since 2001-early 2004

I think as the BlackBerry takes off we will see people making housings for it.. I am guessing because of size and keyboard buttons it's an expensive molding to make..

Wonder if it'd creak then too, that would suck......

I could probably get orginal RIM housing direct from RIM. There would obviously be an associated cost. I think it would cost anywhere from 15 - 20 bucks + taxes.

If your interested PM me.

You also might try buying a defective unit on the bay or one of those other pieces\parts auction sites. U-Bid, etc....

That seems like the really expensive way out, but I guess that would work too :P
