does anyone know if this new holster has the sleep function as the factory RIM units do and has anyone tried it yet??

So, it would appear that the 8700-specific model of that case, which was supposed to be 'coming soon' got lost on the way? Not beating you up, Seattle, but rather annoying that 3rd-party producers don't come close to living up to their own hype.

Regarding this design, specifically, if it had been designed for the 8700-series, the negative aspects that you observed in your review likely wouldn't exist. Seems that some 3rd-party providers can't help but shoot themselves in the foot repeatedly.
