Default BlackBerry 8100 Car Kit: Comfort CRADLE by BURY TECHNOLOGIES NOW AVAILABLE!!! - 12-28-2006, 09:11 PM

It's here and now available...

Retails at $80.00

Q: What's included in this kit?
A: Cradle, Cigarette lighter plug, Installation accessories, External antenna, Operating guidelines

Safety and liability:
The charger process of the mobile phone battery starts when the ignition is turned on and after the insertion of the mobile phone in the hands-free device. It ends when the mobile phone is removed from its station or one hour after the ignition is turned off. Hands-free devices, which are permanently supplied with electrical power by means of the cigarette lighter are an exception to this. Even if the battery is fully charged, the charging electronics of the hands-free device checks permanently the charging status and thus uses power from the vehicle battery. We recommend that your mobile phone is removed from the telephone holder when leaving your vehicle for longer periods. This will protect your battery and avoid any unnecessary problems with your insurance company in case of theft.

Default 8100 Car Cradle - 01-26-2007, 09:53 AM

Hi ChineseCat,

The cradle as shown looks very good and I am keen to order one. But I have a concern as to how the charging works. The power socket for an 8100 is up on the side of the device and the cradle does not appear to have an adapator plug in that position?

If you can lay this fear to rest then I will order one ASAP.

Regards

Hey Feckless,

First off, welcome to the forum.

If you look at the back of your Pearl, it has two small gold plates that aligns to the 2 prongs that is in the lower part of the cradle. The charging happens when you sit your Pearl into the cradle and plug the cigarette lighter plug into the outlet. That's pretty much it.

Hope this information helps.

Will this work with the extended battery? or only the OEM battery?

It's always funnier when it happens to someone else!!!

Default antenna gain - 04-20-2007, 05:39 PM

Has anyone tried one of these with the Pearl?

What is the return policy with this company?

Approx. how much antenna gain is achieved?

Default Chinesecatt, do you sell a simple cradle/holder? - 05-30-2007, 02:08 PM

Chinesecatt, hi, I'm interested in getting a cradle for my Pearl, but for me, I'm not going to be using it as part of a handsfree kit, and am not concerned about not being able to charge it either. Your product seems to do lots more stuff than I need, and I'm wondering if instead you have a simple cradle for the phone that can attach to the side of the centre console, or as I've seen from another company Proclip who sells cradles, has an adapter that slides in between the cracks in the centre vents or the centre console and thus requires no drilling of holes. But I don't want to spend 50 to 60 dollars on a holder...

I just want to have the pearl sit in something as i now use it to listen to music thru a cassette tape adapter and want access to the phone to change songs. I didn't need a holder til now since to use just the phone, I was using a BT headset with voice dialing, so the phone would just stay in my pocket.

Thanks!

Hi Amiro, I don't carry Proclip but I have the Pro.fit (shown below). I am using the miGrip for my 8700g and quite happy about it. I mounted it on my dashboard using Scotch Reclosable Fasteners which holds up to 1 lb per square (got it at Office Depot).

Picture below show the miniGRIP (showing PEARL Orange skin) and the miGRIP that I use. Original thread for this item can be found here

Hi Cat, sorry, didn't get the notification for this til today for some reason... I'm not totally clear how the holder would attach to the car.

Does it come with a bracket?

If I understand correctly how you mounted yours was using velcro type type. So does that mean it's sitting flat on the dash, or is it sitting vertically, where you can see the screen?

I want to have mine mounted vertically, facing me, but can't figure out how I'd mount the minigrip without a bracket? Do you have a pic of it mounted in the car?

Ideally, the position in this pic to the right of the centre console by the radio is how I want it.

Hi Amiro,

I have a SCION xB. I don't know if you know the configuration of this car's dashboard. So it is mounted at an easy reach and positioned vertically right in front of me. Yes it comes with a mounting screws that you can use with any optional vertical mounts. I don't think this brand carries the one that attaches to your AC vent. You can purchase those and just mount this cradle using the screws that comes with it.

Catt
